Susan Striker @ DeCordova: Educational Programming
LINCOLN- The Education Department at DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park is proud to announce a series of lectures and workshops by renowned child development specialist Susan Striker on Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28. Listed below is the full suite of events for families, children, parents, teachers, and educators.
Ms. Striker is an award-winning art educator renowned for her best-selling Anti-Coloring Book series, books that inspire creativity and promote critical thinking by helping children draw their own pictures-and their own conclusions about their surroundings. She is also the author of Young at Art, which teaches the value and significance of early childhood art, and Please Touch, a guidebook for parents and educators seeking to stimulate creativity through movement, music, art, and play.
Currently, Ms. Striker teaches elementary school art in Greenwich, Connecticut, one of the country's best and best-known school districts. She has had a long, successful career teaching art to young children and education methodology to university students. A regular contributor to art education-related publications, Ms. Striker is also the founder of Young at Art®, a private art school in Manhattan that offers classes to young children. In 1995, Ms. Striker received Connecticut's Celebration of Excellence Award for creativity in the classroom. In 2000 she won the Distinguished Teacher Award in Greenwich.
