September 20 - 22, 2002

Runway Show and Preview Party: Thursday, September 19, 2002 at 6:30 pm

LINCOLN, MA-September marks the return of one of our most popular yearly events, DeCordova Style 2002. Always an exciting affair, DeCordova Style celebrates the work of some of the finest wearable artists and designers in the nation. This annual celebration brings together many new artists and returning friends to showcase their spectacular new fall designs.

Join us for a glamorous evening that includes a fashion show, cocktail party, and preview sale of this fall's finest selection of art-to-wear hosted by The Store @ DeCordova. The runway show will take place Thursday, September 19 at 6:30 pm in the Dewey Family Gallery in the Museum, followed by the preview sale at The Store and in the adjacent Museum School Gallery. Discounts will apply to all purchases and special orders made by DeCordova Members. Tickets for the Preview Party are $40 and can be purchased by calling 781/259-8692 or emailing store@decordova.org.

Among the featured designers and artists this year are:

Amy Putansu (Maine), known for her delicate hand-woven silk, linen, and cotton fabrics in subtle, natural tones fashioned into scarves, shawls, and dramatic kimono-style coats and jackets;

Karen Chu (Brooklyn, NY), who creates vibrant three-dimensional scarves that become sculpture-to-wear-glorious silk, satin, and chiffon confections that make you a walking work of art; and

Marcia Hammond (Vermont), a returning artist whose jewel-tone, hand-woven rayon chenille fabrics are made into scrumptious jackets and coats that will dazzle and delight the wearer.
