Runway Show, Reception, and Preview Party: Thursday, September 23, 2004, 6:30 pm
LINCOLN, MA-September marks the return of one of our most popular yearly events, DeCordova Style 2004. Always an exciting affair, DeCordova Style celebrates the work of some of the finest wearable artists and designers in the region. DeCordova Style features stunning pieces by artists new to the event as well as the very latest designs by returning friends.
Join us at the opening event for cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, a fashion show, fabulous clothes and accessories, friends, and femmes fatales! The opening event and sale will take place in the Museum School Gallery adjacent to The Store @ DeCordova. The Style event continues from Friday, September 24 through Sunday, September 26 and is open free to the public. Members' discount will apply to all purchases and special orders. Tickets for the Preview Party are $40 and can be purchased by calling 781/259-8692 or emailing thestore@decordova.org.
Among the featured designers and artists this year are:
Janet Elsbach-Felted wool never felt so good! This fabric artist from western Massachusetts creates her signature scarves and exotic, unmatched earrings from the finest dyed wools. Molded, sculpted, and slashed, each one is a singular, stylish event.
Claudia Mills-Local weaver Claudia Mills updates rag-weaving into a fine art. Specialty purses and shoulder bags are woven from cotton rags in painterly array and then crafted by hand for that "who needs Prada?" effect.
Rebekah Younger-This maker of exquisite knits hails from "down east" in Maine and makes filmy knit ensembles that are as soft as swan's down. In luscious pastels and vibrant jewel tones, her clothing has the sensuous drape and feel of utter luxury.
