Artist of the Month Program at The Store @ DeCordova

The DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park’s The Store @ DeCordova is pleased to announce the continuation of a special artist initiative. The Artist of the Month program highlights some of the best work—quality design, craftsmanship, and creativity—that is happening in the area. This program also reinforces The Store’s reputation as one of the best places to purchase unique items by New England artists.

The following individuals have been selected as Artist of the Month:

February celebrates Sarah Nehama, who extends her love of delicate metal forms to include high-karat gold and semi-precious stones in jewelry that flatters and delights. Nehama has been creating one-of-a-kind jewelry for the 15 fifteen years. "Minerals are, to me, part of the poetry of Nature, and my jewelry is an attempt to capture for a moment this elusive and mysterious beauty," said Nehama.
Please join us at a free reception on Sunday, February 4, from 2 – 4 pm

March highlights local ceramist Marek Jacisin's intricate and colorful geometric abstract designs to complement any 21st century decor. Jacisin was born and raised in Czechoslovakia where he received a Masters Degree in Economics. After moving to the United States in 1987, he was finally able to pursue his longtime dream - art! In 1997 he began to study graphic design, which further deepened his interest in simple, clean forms. The artist finds inspiration in everything around him from elevator buttons, manhole covers, to the terra cotta architectural fragments found in Boston’s Back Bay.

April honors jewelry artist Amie Louise Plante, who will bring some of her exquisitely crafted works to The Store–and add some pieces designed just for the event. Plante is a BFA graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and has an MFA from Dartmouth College. She is also the 2004 winner of the Art Jewelry Forum Emerging Artist prize.
