Museum School Policies

Tuition Refund Policy

Full tuition must accompany your application for registration. Refund requests for the Spring/Summer 2007 terms are granted up to ten business days before the class/workshop starts. A $20 non-refundable registration fee is included in the tuition. No refunds will be given for one day workshops. Tuition and fees cannot be refunded or transferred to another term for any reason. This policy is strictly enforced.

Gift Certificates

If you are looking for a gift for someone who has everything, consider a DeCordova School gift certificate. Call 781/259-0505 for details; we can process your request right over the phone with a credit card payment.

Photography Policy

From time to time, in-house and news media photographers take pictures of classes and programs. If you have any concerns about being photographed, or about the images being reproduced for promotional purposes, please make this clear at the time you register.

Inclement Weather Policy

Snow Line: 781/259-3658

Classes postponed because of weather or factors beyond our control will be made up, if possible, at the end of the term. During inclement weather, the DeCordova Museum policy reflects that of the Lincoln Public Schools: If they cancel, the Museum and the School follow suit. It is the student’s and teacher’s responsibility to call the Snow Line at 781/259-3658. When classes are cancelled there will be a recorded message on the answering machine. Additionally, Museum closings are submitted to Channel 5 (WCVB) and Channel 7 (WHDH); when the Museum is closed, classes are also cancelled.

About The DeCordova Museum School

The DeCordova Museum School is the largest non-degree granting studio art program in Massachusetts. Programs include calligraphy and book arts, ceramics, collage/color/design, drawing, fiber, furniture and decorative arts, jewelry/silversmithing, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and watercolor.

DeCordova students start as young as 5, and with the Museum’s lifelong learning emphasis, can study with us for years. Classes for beginners are just that, but the School offers an informal syllabus similar to more formal art schools that can take you through a broad range of foundation programs into advanced master classes. Limited scholarships are available—please contact us for details at 781/259-0505.
