Instructions and Checklist for Submission of Artwork
All DeCordova Museum School students, who may submit one or two artworks for consideration. Artwork must have been completed within the last twelve months and must not have been shown in the School Gallery before.
Entry Procedures and Fee
Please fill out the School Gallery Artwork Entry Form completely.
Make sure that the detachable portion of the entry form is filled out and firmly secured to each piece of your artwork (out of sight on the back).
Labels for two-dimensional artwork must be taped to the hanging wire.
A non-refundable entry fee of $10 per person is required. Checks should be made out to DeCordova Museum.
Your artwork, the Entry Form, and the entry fee must be delivered to the Museum School Gallery on Monday between 9:30 – 11:30 am or 4 – 6:30 pm. See 2007 Exhibition Schedule and Themes for dates.
You will be asked to sign your artwork in and fill out a Loan Receipt Form.
Artwork Specifications
Two-dimensional artworks:
- Must be a maximum of 36” wide (including the frame) and ready for hanging
- Framed and covered by glass or Plexiglas (unless its on canvas or board)
Affixed with wire for hanging
Three-dimensional artworks:
- The School Gallery will provide pedestals and bonnets as needed.
- Three dimensional artwork may be any size (within reason), although we may not be able to protect it under a plexi bonnet. If you are concerned about the size of 3D artwork you can call us at 781/259-3632.
Pick Up
If your artwork is not accepted for an exhibition you will receive a phone call. The artwork must be picked up on the Wednesday of the week of drop off during the hours: 9:30 – 11:30 am and 4 – 6:30 pm. You must sign out the artwork you pick up.
Artwork accepted must be picked up after the reception on the last Sunday of the exhibition date at 3 pm. You will have to sign out your artwork.
Insurance and Sales
DeCordova’s policy is limited to a maximum insured value of $1,000 per piece for artwork in the gallery. However, you may set your sales price higher. If your artwork is sold, DeCordova will take a 10% commission. This money will be used exclusively for DeCordova Museum School programs. Sales tax will be collected from the buyer and passed on to you for dispersal. If your artwork is not for sale, please indicate that on the entry form and assign an insurance value ($1,000 or less).
