DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum has installed a new site-specific public artwork in the windows of a Cambridge office building. The installation, part of deCordova’s corporate art loan program, features 12 sculptural paintings by local artist Vanessa Irzyk and will be on view at 1 and 101 Main Street, Cambridge, for six months.

The site-specific installation was requested by deCordova corporate member CBRE New England, located in Kendall Square’s Riverfront Office Park. The corporate program team at deCordova facilitated the loan—selecting the artist for the specific space, connecting her with CBRE New England, and assisting with the installation itself. This is the sixth site-specific installation at this property as part of deCordova’s corporate art loan program.

The window installation consists of 12 individual works created specifically for the space by local artist Vanessa Irzyk. The artist used found wood from Vermont, paintings, and colored tape to make a dynamic 3D installation that is rich is color, pattern, and line. The paintings will be on view in the windows for commuters, pedestrians, and members of the Cambridge community to see until July.

“We’re thrilled to have facilitated such an exciting public art installation in Kendall Square,” says Sharon Glennon, Director of Corporate Relations and Art Loan Program at deCordova. “DeCordova’s corporate art loan program is a wonderful way to bring public art to the Greater Boston community, and we’re grateful to our corporate member CBRE New England and the artist for making this partnership possible.”

DeCordova’s corporate art loan program provides corporate members the opportunity to exhibit artwork of both established and emerging contemporary New England artists directly in their offices. The original artworks available for loan are from deCordova’s permanent collection and over 200 lending artists. In addition to the installations at 1 and 101 Main Street, Cambridge, the corporate program also recently facilitated a site-specific art display for corporate member BioMed Realty at 210 Broadway, Cambridge.
