Art for April Vacation Week

This event last occurred on April 20, 2018, 1—3 pm.

Inspired by the brand-new spring exhibitions Sculpting with Air: Ian McMahon and Jong Oh and Lived Space: Humans And Architecture, join us as we create exciting and unexpected air and architectural sculpture experiences in the Park.

Designed for families with children ages 5–12, but all are welcome.

FREE with admission or membership (children 12 and under always get in for free!).

Wednesday, April 18
drop in 1–3 pm

Inspired by Sculpting with Air artist Jong Oh, create string sculptures nestled in wooded groves on deCordova’s campus. We will explore weights and lengths and create illusions of architecture in the woods.

Thursday, April 19
drop in 1–3 pm

Inspired by Sculpting with Air, create air-powered sculptures that spin or soar. How do we capture the wind to power gliders, support parachutes, and whirl pinwheels. Let’s dot the lawn with twirling sculptures and the sky with gently floating works of art.

Friday, April 20
drop in 1–3 pm

Inspired by Lived Space, we will create houses in the Park constructed from natural materials. What kind of community for humans and animals can we build together? What human touches will enhance the wild environment?

*Please note*
The Museum galleries will be closed on April 18 and 19 (the Sculpture Park, Café, and Store will be open with normal hours). The galleries will reopen with brand-new exhibitions (and new interactive activities in The Lab and Process Gallery) on April 20.
