The Art of Photographing Nature

March 5—May 21, 2020

This hands-on digital photography class is designed for photographers interested in exploring the natural world with their cameras. With the deCordova’s picturesque grounds and sculpture park as our backdrop, we will explore techniques, tips, and sensibilities common to landscape photography.

Class sessions will involve supported shooting, critique, and the opportunity to view photographs from the deCordova’s current exhibitions as well as the museum’s extensive permanent collection of photographs. We will consider topics in landscape photography from the history of photography to the contemporary moment, and each student will work to produce a series of photographs that reveals their interest in or connection to the land.

Students interested in this class should have prior experience with photography, and a digital camera capable of shooting in full manual mode with interchangeable lenses.

Please Note: This class does not run on March 19 and March 26.
