Forest Bathing Workshop for Dogs and Their Owners

This event last occurred on September 22, 2018, 9:30 am—12 pm.

Hate to leave your dog behind? Us, too! Spend some time with your best furry friend and Certified Forest Therapy Guide Nadine Mazzola to experience the healing power of shinrin-yoku, or Forest Bathing, in the natural landscape of deCordova’s Sculpture Park. Increase mindfulness and connect to nature using your senses and a series of guided invitations to investigate your surroundings. Your dog will even be your guide!

Please only one dog per owner!

WHAT TO EXPECT: The walk will be about a mile on lawns, hills, and in wooded areas. Along the way, we will gather and sit. You can stay on the trail or wander a bit.

WHAT TO BRING: Please bring an extra-long leash for your dog. A 20-foot training lead is preferred. We will have extras if you'd like to try one out. No aggressive dogs or dogs in heat are permitted. We reserve the right to remove any dogs thought to be dangerous to other dogs or participants.

For yourself, please bring water and a snack. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes for walking on easy terrain with slight hills. You may also want to have a sunhat, sunblock, and bug repellant. Bring anything else you may want to be comfortable outdoors.

RAINY WEATHER: Please check the weather forecast so you are prepared. Rain often enhances sensory experience and can make for a memorable workshop. Please wear comfortable clothing and dress in layers to stay warm and dry.
