External Affairs Intern


DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum seeks a part-time, unpaid intern for a temporary position. The External Affairs Intern will report to the Deputy Director of External Affairs, who oversees the Museum’s development, marketing, public relations, and membership initiatives.  This is a great opportunity to get hands-on experience in all facets of a busy External Affairs department at an art museum. School credit is available. 

The External Affairs Intern will gain exposure to a myriad of functions and programs typical at an art museum, while gaining practical experience by providing administrative duties such as:

  • Marketing and public relations support
  • Research, promotional outreach, press coverage monitoring and reporting, basic website maintenance.
  • Update foundation and prospective donor lists
  • Using Raiser's Edge, other databases, and online resources:
  • Research foundation and other grant-related funding opportunities
  • Help compile profiles on prospective funders
  • Assist in the preparation of email and print membership renewals and communications
  • Membership program research and collaborative outreach to fellow institutions
  • Assistance at occasional events. Help with check-in and registration
  • Attend External Affairs meetings, participate in the planning process, and help to promote deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum
  • Other administrative duties as needed
