Marcia Cannistraro’s path of creating artwork is also a path of discovery, as her artistic process allows her to better understand herself and others. Through an artistic approach of constant communication and tranquility, her work depicts intricate abstractions and relationships. Meandering lines connect free-flowing ideas, which all together achieve a comforting solidity on canvas. Cannistraro’s tactile and visually rich works are carefully composed and reach beyond the physical to tap the metaphysical aspects of the viewer’s psyche.
After studying printmaking at Berkshire School of Contemporary Art, North Adams, MA, Cannistraro went on to complete a BFA in painting at University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth. Cannistraro has shown in many juried exhibitions, as well as in Fuller Craft Museum, Brockton, MA. She has exhibited repeatedly in conjunction with the Rhode Island Watercolor Society and the Monotype Guild of New England.
