Girl Scout Badge Programs

The listed badge programs are available weekdays and some weekends by at least 3 weeks advance booking. The two-hour facilitated program includes an art tour and art activities - all you need to complete your badge! Please note that badges are not provided.

Badge Program Fees: $20.00 per scout/$10.00 per adult
Fees include full access the Park and Museum before or after your program.
Badge Program length: 2 hours
Minimum group size: 8 scouts, Maximum group size: 15 scouts

Art in the Outdoors for all age levels

Outdoor Art Badge

After a tour highlighting sculptures in the Park made by women using natural and other materials, you become the sculptor. Create stick puppets using natural and household materials. Then make musical sculptures that combine together for a collaborative sound installation.

Program offered: March through November

Paintings Inspired by Art and Nature for Brownies (grades 2-3)

Painting Badge

After a tour of various indoor and outdoor artworks on view, you become the painter. Make natural paintbrushes, create a series of landscape paintings, and work together on a collaborative landscape mural.

Trees: Are They Nature or Art? for Cadettes (grades 6-8)

Tree Badge

After a tour of various tree species and sculptures made from nature, become an artist naturalist. Tree drawing studies made in the Park will be followed by collage drawings that show the lifecycles of trees – and all of the animals (including humans!) who depend on trees for their survival.

Program length: 2 hours

Collages Inspired by Art and Nature for Seniors (grades 9-10)

Collage Badge

After a tour of multimedia indoor and outdoor artworks on view, you become the collage artist. Create a series of collages using paper, natural materials, photographs, and three-dimensional materials. Conclude with a self-portrait assemblage (3D collage).

Girl Scout & Boy Scout Tours

For art and nature badges not listed here, you can start your project at deCordova with a 45-minute tour specially designed for your troop. Our expert Museum Guides will select indoor or outdoor art works that support the objectives of your badges in: Drawing, Photographer and Digital Photographer, Woodworker for Girls; Art, Painting, Photography, and Sculpture for Boys.

Fees include full access to the Park and Museum before or after your program.

Tours are available at no extra charge.
Group reservations should be made at least three weeks in advance.

SCHOOL & YOUTH VISIT REQUEST FORM

By advance request, your visit can also include rental of a studio to work on your own art project.
Studio rental fee is an additional $100 for two hours; or $150 for half the day.
